To My Mom

It’s her birthday today – this woman who carried me under her heart.  Whose body swelled with life.  Mine.

It’s her birthday and today I celebrate a woman who relased me unfolding into this world, this woman who cupped hands around fledgling wings and then encouraged flight. This woman whose mother heart beats strong and sure.

I celebrate her and all that she has taught me.  About adventure, about living.  How to make the  best soup.  An encourager in all things creative and whose mother intutition knows no longitude or latitude – but just knows.  Her radar to my heart bleeps and blips with precision and accuracy.

Today I celebrate a woman who laid a path to womanhood showing me that surrender and sacrifice are not life’s end but the beginning of life.  And while, at times,  her path was fringed with the thorns of uncertainty and pot holes of fear she taught me that life is worth living and moving forward brings new and unfettered joy.

Today I celebrate a woman who carried me under her heart for 9 months but who has carried me IN her heart for the past 46 years.

I love you Mom!  Happy Birthday!!!

  3. So love this friend! Happy birthday to your mom!

  4. I don’t think I have ever seen a ‘daughter to mother’ message quite as beautiful as this! Talk about deep to the core and directly from Spirit! Relationships are truly labs of the Holy Spirit! It is quite clear that you and your mom have SO much to celebrate…. beyond words.
    Love to both of you,
    Laurie 🙂
