Opportunity – Five Minute Friday

GO!

I’ve been whining a lot lately.  Whining and griping about the things left undone.  The things that live in the land of would’ve, should’ve, could’ve.  The words not written, the career that remains elusive and the fact that I can’t seem to figure out what it is that God wants for me to do.

And I read it this morning in John, read it and it leapt off the page and slammed into my heart about how my work is to love God, to proclaim his goodness – that is my work – trusting in him.  And I see it now.  See the complaining as a wailing siren that drowns out any element of joy.  The siren that leads me back to the control that I think I must retain.

And all that complaining it drowns opportunity.  It blinds us to the magnificence of God.  And how can we see through the cloudy film of anger and discontent to all that God has for us,  all of that opportunity.

Praise.  I must praise. Praise, just as David did when he was being hunted by Saul, just as David did when his sin pressed heavy on his conscience.  He praised!

Opportunity.  It is in our thanksgiving, our praise to Him.  He is sufficient, He is enough.  And I can’t do more.  God doesn’t want me to do more.  He just wants me to trust in Him.

That is my work.  That is my task.

Trust in God and opportunity will come and knock on your heart’s door.  It will knock and you will answer and on the other side is God’s perfect plan.

STOP.

  1. Visiting from Five Minute Friday! Very Good post. We are to make time for God and make room for him in our daily lives. Praising him, giving him a place to dwell, praying, going to church ect, But we also have to make time for God. our ultimate Creator.

  2. Thanks for stopping by Mike. Blessings to you today.
