Here – Five Minute Friday

Here.  In the present. In this moment.  I am here.

The time has come for me to stop running, to stop hiding, to just stop pretending.   Here is where I need to be.

I meet Him here. In the space between my anxiety and fear.  I meet Him right here.  I can see Him reaching out, arms open wide.  He waits, just waits like that.  With that look in His eyes, the one that tells me that I am His no matter what.

He waits for me in the here to fall into His arms instead of running in the other direction.

I have been known to do that.  Run.  Be anywhere but here.  The past and its horrors seem safer – only because it’s what I know and the future – well dare I hope that the future will be better.

But He is here.  and so this is my choice, this is where I want to be.  Basking in this moment.  Feeling His breath whisper His love into my ear.  Feeling His strong arms wrap me close and hold me tight.  Feeling His fingertips soak up my tears.

What better place than here, here with Him?

  ***Linking up with Lisa Jo Baker today for my favourite day of the week***

  1. Love the imagery of his fingertips soaking up our tears!

  2. Yes. Love the truth and reminder that He meets us where we are. I love that about Him! Great post, friend! (I totally grinned when I saw we were FMF neighbors!)

    And on a completely unrelated note, you’re going to Allume?!?! HOW have I missed this? YAY!!! I’m so excited that I’ll get to meet you! 🙂

  5. Stopping by from FMF. Beautiful – we meet Him in the here. And really…what better place is there?

  6. I am so glad we have a God who soaks up tears and holds us close. Love to you, friend. Praying you will know this more each day and your future will be full of beautiful dreams.

  7. I cannot believe how much our posts parallel each other. Our hearts are beating alike, – to be with Him, there really is not other place to be. Have a beautiful weekend!

    • Our posts to parallel… soul sisters!! Your words were beautiful friend… so glad you stopped by here to point me to what your “here” means to you.

  8. Feeling His breath whisper His love into my ear. <—There is such beauty in these words friend. To know that His arms are always open to us, longing for us to stop running. So love your heart shared. Blessings and much love.

  9. What a lovely post. It really flowed and I loved it. Thank you for sharing with us today.

  10. I don’t want to be anywhere but here with Him. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Me too I run the other way, love how you said He waits just like that He waits. Aww what a thought huh?? He waits for us to run into His arms.

  12. Beautiful post. He does wait for us, all the while He seeks to draw us into His arms.

  13. great post- loved every word!

  14. Beautiful my friend, but praying you through this season. Sometimes where we are is hard.

    • Thank you for your prayers… It can be hard… but I can say with surety this rough season feels different… not better but different… It is the first time I feel Him right there with me. {hugs}

  15. It is our choice isn’t it? That is a theme that runs throughout my writings. And what a wonderful choice to be right where He is waiting as you said. Lovely post, Tonya.
    You’ve made my first FMF experience shine!

    • Heather, thank you friend for stopping by here… and so glad to have you part of FMF – you won’t find a more encouraging group of people!

  16. Tonya, what a precious reminder that he meets us HERE, right where we are at. That he is ALWAYS here and that sometimes its all we can do to be fully present in the here, but he wants us to deal with the healing and movement needed in the now…to move forward into the future and emerge renewed in Him. the imagery in this piece fills my heart up…May God continue to hold you close and let you know that there is peace in him.

    • Friend, Thank you so much for you words and for reminding me that the healing comes in the moment that we find ourselves with Him. You bless and I feel your prayers.

  17. Tonya, I agree with you. Being here, where He is – it is a life treasure. The kind of quiet, peaceful rest that my heart needs. Thanks for the reminder to be intentional to be *here* with Him.

    • Amanda, It is a treasure isn’t it? And one I too often take for granted… Praying that you can find Him in the *here* as well.

  18. Great stuff, Tonya! It’s so scary to stop running and just be here, but what a lovely thought to realize that He’s here with us.

    • It really is scary… for me I think I was more afraid of the brokeness that might come from surrendering everything to God… but I am so glad that I did… so very glad.

  19. Love the imagery of his fingertips soaking up your tears. Very well written post.

  20. What a lovely way to spend the present moment. Love that you took a pause from the anxiety and fear, that you stopped running and just met the Lord. This is something I as well have a habit of forgetting. I love the way you described this process. Great writing. Bless you!

    • Ava, thank you sweet friend for your words. It feels good to stop running… and feels better to know that I don’t have to have it all together to come into His arms… I just need to be. {Blessings}
