Five Minute Friday

Five Minute Friday

It has been so long since I’ve joined the Five Minute Friday crew. I am so thrilled to be part of this wonderful community that leaves bravery all over the internet.  We write for the love it.  No backtracking, no over editing.  We make our hearts bleed words because we must.

The word: SEE
GO!
The days tick by so fast.  Schedules that grind and the grueling hard work that makes my brain hurt.  It seems I’m always going somewhere, needing to be someplace and needed by someone. The blur of time moves faster than my eyes can focus and before I know it I’m a heaping mess of anxiety and frenetic worry.
And then just this morning on the bus, on the way to yet another meeting, the sun was streaming through the dirty windows.  Just like that, light was there dancing off the pages of my book and warmth was spreading down my arm.  It was like time stood still.  Like the whole of creation took one deep breath and held it.  The clock stopped ticking, the rush slowed to stillness and for the first time in a long time my eyes could see.  “Sunlight warming words on a book” – it’s what I scrawled in my journal, another gift counted, another joy recorded.
It took one moment of stillness.  That is all.  Just one moment.  My rose coloured glasses were removed and I truly saw the gifts in my day: the warmth of ear muffs, the sun through trees, the warm boots, music for my walk.  All of it a gift.  All of it a joy.
When we don’t stop, when the frenetic and the fast pushes us past beauty we fail to capture joy with our eyes.  We need to stop to see. Come to a complete halt to truly look and find the beauty in our everyday.
Stop. Still. Look and… SEE
STOP!!
