Chihuahuas and God-sized Dreams

God-Sized Button

Dear Chihuahua of Fear, I have some things I’d like to say to you…

You think you’re a pretty big deal don’t you?  You think that your snippy little bark and your barely-there teeth can distract me?   You think that by making me dizzy as you run around in circles and get caught up in my feet that you can make me fall flat on my face?  You think that once I fall I won’t have it in me to get up?  You think that your puny little snarl will throw my dreams back in my face and taunt me with the lies of failure?

You’re a wanna-be Goliath.  You’re a puffed up exaggeration about the way the things are and the way things should be. Your words are loud and obnoxious but they are lies.  I have 5 stones in my pouch you gnarly little Chihuahua-dog and I’m going to slay you with truth – right between the eyes.

Truth # 1 – I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) – each part of me is complex and not one piece of me has ever been hidden from God. He knows my fears, He knows when I will stumble, He knows when I feel pain or hurt or doubt – He knows and yet He still leads me “in the way everlasting.”

Truth # 2 – I have a purpose – it is God’s purpose.  He has ordered my steps.  He has a plan for my life, and that includes my dreams and those plans give me a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11) – If you want to mess with that perfection you go right ahead but I’m standing firm on the promise of His presence in my life.

Truth # 3 – I have been cut from the Rock, I have been mined from a quarry of strength (Isaiah 51:1) – Jesus Christ is my solid rock and it is on Him that I stand, it is on Him that the foundations of my dreams are built.

Truth # 4 – My faith may be shaky, the legs of my dreams may be wobbly but I have the assurance that God does what He says, even when I’m not sure what’s around the corner… it’s a little thing called Faith.  The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.” (Hebrews 11:1 MSG)

Truth # 5I have been made right with God.  By the death of His Son on the cross and by the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ I have been given the right to come boldly before His throne to worship Him and I choose to worship Him with my gifts – my dream of writing.

What’s that…?  Do I hear you whimpering?  Whining?  Yep you got it… You’re not welcome so…
